Welcome to Stage Sensations, a dynamic and immersive musical theatre class designed specifically for talented 11-18 year olds who are passionate about singing, dancing, acting, and improvisation! This comprehensive program is tailored to cultivate the skills and creativity of aspiring performers, providing them with a well-rounded foundation in the world of musical theatre.


In this class, students will embark on an exciting journey through the magical realm of musical theatre, discovering and honing their talents in singing, dancing, acting, and improvisation. Through a combination of engaging exercises, group activities, and individual coaching, students will develop their artistic abilities and explore their unique potential.


Singing: Students will delve into the captivating world of vocal performance, where they will learn the fundamentals of proper vocal technique, breath control, pitch accuracy, and vocal expression. Through a repertoire of diverse musical genres, they will develop their range, tone, and projection, while gaining confidence in solo and ensemble singing. Special attention will be given to musical interpretation, storytelling through song, and stage presence.


Dancing: Students will discover the joy of movement and expression through dance. They will learn various dance styles, including jazz, ballet, tap, and contemporary, which are essential for musical theatre. Through energetic warm-ups, choreography exercises, and group routines, students will improve their flexibility, coordination, rhythm, and stage awareness. Emphasis will be placed on storytelling through movement and conveying emotions through dance.


Acting: Students will delve into the art of acting, exploring techniques to bring characters to life on stage. They will learn the fundamentals of acting, including voice projection, diction, physicality, character development, and scene study. Through improvisation exercises, monologues, and scene work, students will enhance their ability to create believable and engaging performances. They will also learn how to connect with their fellow performers and develop strong ensemble skills.


Improvisation: Students will embrace the spontaneous and creative nature of improvisation. They will engage in fun and challenging exercises that encourage quick thinking, adaptability, and teamwork. Through improvisational games and scene work, students will sharpen their ability to think on their feet, make bold choices, and trust their instincts. Improv will enhance their overall performance skills and encourage a sense of spontaneity and confidence on stage.


Throughout the class, students will have the opportunity to showcase their progress in periodic performances, culminating in a grand musical theatre production at the end of the term. These performances will allow students to apply their skills, gain valuable stage experience, and showcase their talents to family, friends, and the community.


Other aspects of musical theatre covered include stage makeup, pantomime, auditioning, resume prep and self-taping auditions.


Students will get the chance to showcase their talents by auditioning for guest judges, who are professionals in the industry.  They will also get to show their stuff on stage with an end-of-year performance.
